In the Delaware market, Comcast has removed one of two Public stations from their basic lineup.  In order to get the other station back, customers will have to uprade their service.  It’s bad enough that Comcast charges it’s customers for commercial TV, but charging for publicly funded programming has to have even the politicians in their pocket running for cover.

To get them back, customers will need a digital set-top box. The first box will be free for expanded basic customers, but boxes for additional televisions will cost $4.95 after 12 months, Comcast reported.

“How can they take that away when it’s paid for in taxpayer dollars and public support?” said Karen Falk, a Rehoboth Beach resident who is an expanded basic customer.

Just wait Karen…pretty soon Comcast will be chargin you a “service fee” to connect your TV set to their cable.

Comcast is Locking Football Fans Out

Read this article from the CEO of the NFL Network, Steve Bornstein at The Philidelphia Inquirer. “Starting May 1, Comcast will stop carrying the network – denying fans the unique access and special coverage of the NFL that only NFL Network delivers.” “Comcast wants to continue to limit access to the network by charging consumers [...]

Read this article from the CEO of the NFL Network, Steve Bornstein at The Philidelphia Inquirer.

  • “Starting May 1, Comcast will stop carrying the network – denying fans the unique access and special coverage of the NFL that only NFL Network delivers.”
  • “Comcast wants to continue to limit access to the network by charging consumers extra for it. Comcast collects this extra charge to provide NFL Network as part of its sports package.”
  • “Comcast refuses to reach a new agreement with NFL Network that would make it available to a larger number of subscribers without the extra monthly fee.”
  • “Comcast discriminates against networks such as ours because we are independent. “
  • “Instead of negotiating with independent programmers, the cable companies discriminate against them in favor of their own services.”
  • “In October, the Federal Communications Commission’s Media Bureau ruled that we had shown that Comcast discriminated and retaliated against NFL Network. The bureau ordered an administrative-law judge to conduct additional proceedings.”
  • “We hope that Comcast will act responsibly, negotiate with us in good faith, and keep the best interests of the fans in mind.”

We hope so too, BUT IT JUST AINT GONNA HAPPEN.  Comcast is happy to keep the best interests of the fans in mind…for a HEFTY FEE!

April Fools????  NOT!  This is REAL.  Read about the April 1st update to the Comcast Customer Agreement at ZDNET.

Dan Kusnetzky along with other Comcast customers received the new & improved Comcast Customer Agreement in their latest bill.  Comcast claims the right to do the following things:

  • Insert cards or other hardware into customer owned equipment. While I expect they mean a customers cable box, the wording allows them to modify computer hardware attached to their network.
  • Send software and or “downloads” ot the customer equipment. Install, configure, maintain, inspect and upgrade customer equipment. Once again, I suspect the intention is to allow Comcast to touch customer-owned cable boxes, the rights they assert clearly extend to computers attached to their network.

Dan contacted Comcast Customer Service to point out that the wording of that agreement is too broad.  Comcast is asserting the right to install hardare and software in just about anything attached to their network.

“When presented with my concern about the overly broad wording…and that customers had no way to opt out, the representative said customers always had the ability to take their business to another company. “

With just days away from opening day for Major League Baseball, Comcast puts a gun to the head of DirecTV to the tune of a 25% to 40% increase to carry the Oakland Athletics.

“The tragedy here is that this has nothing to do with ticket sales. This has everything to do with getting you to switch your cable provider, and the underhanded methods these broadcast titans will get you to do so.”

Everyone DUCK!  It’s another COMCAST ‘Drive-by’ shooting.  These GANG WARS are kiling too many innocent bystanders.

Frank Clark has dared to compete with Comcast and now they intend to punished him. Forget the fact that OceanNet has violated the Terms of Service of the Comcast Residential Internet Service Agreement which prohibit reselling their services. We look forward to having those Terms of Service challenged in a court of law. The real issue here is that OceanNet was offering the consumer a better VALUE than Comcast, and that dips into Comcast’s profits so they intend to send “a message” to other would-be competitors (…at least the ones they’re not already in bed with). GOOD LUCK Frank!

God forbit that viewers be allowed to have a choice.  I can hear the Comcast executives now…“The customers don’t know what they want.  We’ll tell them what they want.”

Comcast is not satisfied in just SCREWING their own customers.  Apparently they feel the need to punish their competitor’s customers too!  I foresee a new Comcast logo in the near future…one with Whips & Chains.

Extensive channel lineup changes are scheduled for April.  Customers appear to have mixed reactions.

A spokes person for Comcast says “We ask for our customers’ patience as we work diligently to improve cable services in the Lafayette area,” he said. “We apologize to our customers for any inconvenience.”  If I had a nickle for every time Comcast has ‘apologized for any inconvenience’ I’d be RICH!

I’ve got one thing to says to Comcast about this…”Change Management”
