The story is at KPTV.com
During an attempted home burglary during broad daylight, a witness identified the burglar as wearing a shirt with a Comcast logo.
Comcast offered a few tips on how to recognize a legitimate employee.
They said all Comcast employees have ID badges that they keep visible at all times. If a technician is coming to your home for a service appointment, you can request a work order or some other form of paperwork. Comcast officials also said if you’re uncomfortable, you never have to let anyone into your home.
…actually Comcast would prefer that you don’t let them in because it would cut down on those annoying service calls that impact their profit margin. Other things that Comcast wanted to say:
- If the suspect shows up on time for a scheduled Comcast Service Call, you can be sure that he is an IMPOSTER!
- If it does turn out to be a Comcast employee, then that high priced electronic equipment he was carrying out of your broken window was in fact interfering with your cable signal, so you will see a charge of $19.99 on your next bill for a Service Call.
- If you post any negative comments on this story towards Comcast and it gets ranked high enough on the search engines, then Mark Cassem & Frank Eliason will be emailing you to offer their “sincere” assistance.
That’s funny! I sure have been seeing a lot of Comcast commercials. Do you think they are feeling to squeeze by AT&T’s U-Verse?

Not just U-Verse. There is also the Verison FiOS product that is giving them a run across the country. Who knows, if the competition gets too intense than maybe we’ll see them in D.C. asking for a BAILOUT < *wink*>
The real answer is that all of these companies are in bed with each other. The sad story is that there is no REAL competition. They will compete with each other on PACKAGES and FEATURES, but the unwritten law is “thou shalt not compete on PRICE” because they know that only the consumer wins if do that and they will ALL lose profits. Any new players in the market that attempt to compete on price are quickly SQUASHED so that the big players can maintain control.
The price of Internet service and CATV and VoIP across the board has been set by these corporate executives. I believe in a free market economy, but this marketplace is anything but that.

It’s funny to see another perspective on how others view my Comcast service. I however have had Cavalier, FiOS, Direct TV & COMCAST…Once you look at All 4 types of providers, it becomes clear. First, is content, all have a similar number of channels But I believe VOD is the game changer. Sure Direct TV now has VOD it’s really On Delay just like Cavalier’s standard TV channels. FiOS has 1/3 the content, plus I had to pay $.99 to $1.99 to view the same/similar FREE content on the Comcast service. Second, I have to lean towards the simple matter of “SERVICE” there are two areas we must look into. The ability to have a repair done in a reasonable time. Direct TV & FiOs sent me a box to ship my digital box back, Comcast repaired it (thunder storm)in 30 minutes with a 48 hour wait time. The year before with FiOS their appointment made me wait 11 days out then I could pick a time. It was scheduled and 13 days later the Verizon technician never showed-up. I was transferred 3 times before being informed that I cancelled the appointment! Comcast has been late but they do show up! Plus, I have received a $20.00 credit And free ShoTime for it. It’s a Win-Win for me! Also, under service FiOS customer representatives told me flat-out I was stuck in a contract & they NEVER got the billing right! The Contract through Verizons FiOS was for $126.00 but going into the 5-10 months of the contract it went to $186.00 and the only thing the service representative(s) could do was give a $60 Credit each time. No one owned the problem! Last, the three services that stand out & distinguish them as true broadband providers. They now have More HD channels than Satalite & more HD/VOD content than FiOS! Ask a FiOS Tech/Service representative, they sends their HD out at 720P the cable boxes/TV’s adjust it from that point. Comcast is sending to us what the TV station(s) deliver to them 480P-1080I so think about that! My Telephone service is loaded with features that I don’t even use but it’s reliable, clear and stays on even when the lights go out. Oh, I almost forgot, the internet is great!!! I have netflicks, slingbox & multiple (3) laptops…i’m at 25Mbs down and 4.6Mbs up! FiOS was faster but at 50Mbs down & 10Mbs up I saw that the servers (X-Box & Netflicks) never showed a difference! Comcast is upgrading to Docsis 3 from what I hear so that will end the FiOS Bragging rights! I guess about 70% of most PC/MAC’s are on old operating systems & can’t see those speeds anyway. Go Comcast ….I spent a lot of money to leave you guys but learned a hard expensive lesson! I’m going to Stick with you! Comcast Forever!!!

EarthTones, just the fact that you actually had more than one cable provider to choose from where you live puts you in the vast minority within the country. I’m actually glad to hear that someone feels that they are getting VALUE for their dollar. Do you mind sharing with us where you live, what services you subscribe to, and how much you pay?
